sick kitten

A virus has spread in the office and we've been catching colds and flu one by one. Being a lady of leisure (bisyo, in short) I wasn't spared.

It started from a sore throat that became a very sore throat, next thing I know I am a coughing machine. I always feel feverish but never had an actual fever, probably because I take parecetamol at the slight hint of a lagnat. Then there's the unavoidable headache and joint pains which coincided with hyperacidity.

I always feel hot. But not the good hot.

It's been a week, and I've seen the doctor twice. I was so hoarse during the first time but she said nothing's going on with me. Fine.

sick and deglamorized in the massage bed

I figured a massage would heal all the ills of the world ("balm on broken skin" ika nga ni Lourd) so I treated myself to a Swedish and L to a combination massage at Lotus. Not bad for P350 each. The makeshift couple's room made up for the lack of wet floor/sauna. Apparently, I needed more than a massage.

I returned to the doctor after two days, she looked deep in my throat, said something's "starting up" and gave me antibiotics.

I've been taking costly 625-mg antibios thrice a day for the past 3 days, and man, that drug is hangover in a capsule. My tummy burned, my head spinned, had palpitations and felt like throwing up when I first took it. I called up my doktora best friend and asked about the "hangover drug," she said people have developed resistance to the 500-mg variety hence the "upgrade."

Oh well, I wanna get better but feeling blasted without alcohol is the worst. Will ask the doctor to prescribe me 500-mg caps instead. All these Mercury Drug trips bring back the memories of those mala-Mentos 1-GRAM antibiotics I used to take for my tonsils. I got better, alright, but I was damn scared I would choke on those giant capsules. Such a bitter—and hard—pill to swallow.

Skipped futsal and badminton games and almost all physical activities last week in an attempt to shoo off the cough, but it just wouldn't go. I hate being sick, and it's so annoying that it happened at a time when I got active in sports, quit eating rice and drinking soda, and cut down on smoking and alcohol a great deal. I was even taking anti-oxidants daily!

Hmm, Antibiotics could be a nice name for a band.
